Biography
Originally from North Dakota, Michelle Brusegaard is an artist specializing in oils, photography and wax-painting (batik).
Typically, she exploits the figure in paintings, choosing to explore still lives mostly through photography. Her work in
Batik explores the world of pattern and balanced design while maintaining an elusive harmony with fluid wax.
Through all of this, Brusegaard hopes to create or represent realities false and imagined while commenting on the sometimes
heartwrenching truth of banality.
She earned her BFA at the University of North Dakota in 2005, concentrating in Painting and Photography. Her curiosity about
art began at an early age, watching her grandmother paint traditional still-lives and landscapes.
